Cuba: the evidence

Sir: The Institute for Policy Studies and its co-founder Richard J. Barnet have long made important contributions to the study of international affairs. Barnet himself has written a number of well-received books on American foreign policy, and is co-author of the much acclaimed Global Reach, written a decade ago but still the best introduction to the strategy and consequences of transnational capitalism. Accordingly, neither Barnet nor his IPS associates deserve the casual calumny meted

out by Brian Crozier, who claims (Letters, 28 April) that the Institute is a 'major front for Cuban intelligence' and the KGB. I don't know or care who fills Crozier's pay packet but if he has evidence to substantiate his assertion, he should produce it forthwith.
