is a laboured and unsatisfactory effort. There is an absence of melody in it. The symphony is meaningless; it suggests a spirited march, rather than the sentiment of the words which it is intended to introduce. A serious fault occurs in the consecutive fifth between voice and bass on page 3, line 8.
