Homosexuality and the church

Sir: It seems to me that your correspondence on homosexuality is in danger of becoming confused by odium theologicurn and confusion of terms.

First of all, what do we mean by being 'fully homosexual'? If one means by this being exclusively attracted by persons of the same sex, it is at least arguable that this is something the person concerned cannot help and I fail to see how any of the biblical tests quoted against die practice of homosexuality can be read so as to condemn such people.

When we come to homosexual practices, then I agree with Mr Court that St Paul at least does condemn them, but do We not read in Samuel I, ch 20 v4; that David and Jonathan kissed one another, and in Samuel II ch I v 26 that in David's view Jonathan's love to him was "wonderful, passing the love of women"? On_ the other hand the Bible can nowhere be found to condone buggery or anal intercourse, a crime rightly regarded as abhorrent by most civilized men throughout the ages.
