M. Venezelos in the course of the debate ridiculed the

notion that be had ever expressed doubts about King Constantine's patriotism. In a Constitutional country there could be no Royal policy, but only a Governmental policy. After the last elections the Constitutional course would have been for the Royal sanction to be given to the policy which the people had approved. As it was, he would rather see the Constitution suspended during the war than hold his peace while Ministers who did not represent the people's will sheltered themselves behind the King.
