Though Mr. Norris is intellectually convinced that he is writing in the period after the War, the standpoint from which he views the world has not moved since the first decade of the century. Hence we find a certain want of harmony between the actions of his characters and their thoughts and motives. The present story deals with a county family bereft of its sons, and an heir from Overseas.
