SHORTAGE OF PAPER.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."'

• have read the letter of " E. P. D." on above subject in your issue of July 31st. The use of bracken for the manufacture of paper is no new idea. It has been tried often, but it has been found to be of no use except for a coarse kind of brown paper. I had some bracken made into paper during the war, and the experiment did not prove economic.—I am, Sir, &c., Brodick Castle, Brodick, Arran. GRAHAM.
