A BONFIRE

It is advisable to burn matter that cannot for any reason be properly composted. Vegetable rubbish and old straw often harbour pests and all is not lost by consigning this matter to the flames. The ash makes a useful dressing, and, if there is wood among it, this will help the lawn and make an ingredient for a compost used in the potting department.
