Sin,—You say that, according to the Burnham Scale, there was to be an increase of about fifty per cent. in teachers' salaries. Here are the figures for a non-provided village school of fifty children. Before the Burnham Scale came in force the salary- of husband and wife jointly was ..t110 per annum, with house and coal provided. Now it is £480 per annum, without house and coal; the rent of the house is £8 per annum and the cost of the coal £8 per annum. You have overlooked the fact that the new scale depends on length of service.—I am, Sir-, &c.,
