Half - a - Dosen Transgressions. By H‘lime Gingold. (fife and Son.)-The author of

the stories collected in this thin little book seems to believe in cynicism and realism, and to hold that "men," in the " worldly " sense, however much they may desire to impose upon others, really worship "the flesh and the devil." The stories are certainly ultra-modern in the sense that the majority of them leave a very unpleasant taste in the mouth. Miss Gingold has some capacity for vigorous writing, but she might put it to better purpose than she has done in this volume.
