Mr. Redmond added the ridiculous statement that the demand for conscription was made not on military grounds, but by those who wanted to betray Ireland and make bad blood between the two countries. Of course the very reverse is the ease. The bad blood will come from the feeling of Englishmen and Scotsmen that they were left in the lurch to fight battles which no one can say are specially English or Scottish interests, but which concern the whole Empire.
