NEWS OF THE WEEK.

IR CHARLES HARINGTON'S patience, suavity, and dignity, tempered with firmness, had their reward on Tuesday, when the Turkish representative at Mudania signed the armistice convention. The convention provides, in brief, that the Greek;rs shall evacuate Eastern Thrace within fifteen days, an that the province shall be handed over to Turkish administration not more than thirty days later. A limited Turkish gendarmerie, but no Turkish troops, may be sent into Thrace before the coining Peace Conference completes its work. Not more than seven Allied battalions will in the meantime maintain order. The Constantinople, Chanak and Gallipoli Neutral Zones are to be modified and the Turks undertake to respect these Zones. When we write on Thursday the Greeks have not yet signed.
