AN UNFORTUNATE METAPHOR.

[To THE EDITOR OP THE " SPECTATOR:1 SIR,—At the National Liberal Club Mr. Lloyd George compared the House of Lords to a dog on the chain, and he expressed the-hope--that the chain-would be shortened. Mr. Lloyd George is fond of this simile. A dog guards his master's property, and it is natural that one who goes about robbing hen roosts should be afraid of him.—I am,
