Lord Long, who, by the way, was the originator of

the embargo, now said that it ought to be ended, as he regarded the pledge given by Lord Ernie at the Imperial Conference as a pledge that extended beyond the War and must he honoured. Lord Harris moved_ that the debate should be adjourned in order that the House might consider a resolution to the effect that the recommendation of the Royal Commission in favour of admitting Canadian store-cattle should be considered. Quaran, tine precautions, as prescribed by the.Royal Commission, would, of course, be taken at the ports. Lord Harris's proposal was agreed to. The outlook is thus promising. We have great hopes now that the embargo will be lifted. The handling of the matter by the Lords was sensible and creditable.
