We are very glad to see that Dr. Harmer, the

distinguished zoologist, has been appointed Director of the Natural History Museum. The scientific world had been much exercised by ■ report that a lay official was to receive the appointment. The principal Trustees, however, have wisely decided that this important scientific post should continue to be held by a acientille man of high repute. Dr. Harmer has been the Keeper of Zoology at the Museum for twelve years, and he is well qualified in every way to maintain the high traditions of the Directorship.
