Sober Sundays

Sir: I have only just read `Drinking-up time' in your issue of 24 April, so I hope I may be allowed a delayed comment on Mir, Rogers's statement that 'all of Wales will probably go wet this year'. I sincerely hope not! I write, not as one prejudiced against drink, but as a person living within a stone's throw of three licensed premises, who is heartily sick of the activities of a minoritY of drinkers after closing-time. Last Satur- day week, at about 11 p.m., we discovered four drunken youngsters sitting on our front steps, who urinated, were sick, and tried to set fire to the contents of our dustbin. The police removed them very pro mptly, but my wife and I were left with the task of clearing up. The present state of the law in Gwyned allows us a very peaceful Sunday evening- Long may it remain that way!
