The county of Carlow Liberals have announced two gentlemen, Mr.

George Latouche and Mr. Carroll, as their candidates in the event of an election.

Rumours have prevailed in Belfast, of an approaching general elec- tion ; and political parties have been on the alert in consequence. We understand, that a number of the Tory leaders met at Mr. Emerson Tennent's ; and we have been informed that it was resolved to start only one Tory candidate at the next election, and that Mr. Dunbar should be dropped.—Northern 1Vhig.

It is said that the Tory Members for Cavan and Longford counties are sure to be turned out at the next election.
