The usual notice has been issued from the Lord Chamberlain's

office touching the reservation of places in the House of Lords for Peeresses on the opening of Parliament.

Experiments have recently been made at the Excise-office, under orders issued by the Government, to test the fitness of sugar as a substitute for malt in the manufacture of beer and spirits. The experiments are described. to be perfectly successful.

The Reverend Charles Perry, M.A., minister of the District Church of St. Paul, Cambridge, has received the offer of the Bishopric of Melbourry about to be created in Australia Felix; and we have reason to believe that the reverend gentleman has signified his acceptance of the offer.—Cass-.. bridge Chronicle.
