One Hundred Masterpieces. By John La Farge. (Hodder and Stoughton.

25s. net.)—The author has cast his net wide, and has cot limited his choice to any time or school. The result is a very interesting collection of pictures, which are expounded with sympathy and insight by Mr. La Farge. Besides well-known works, a number of pictures are included which, for some reason or other, are not popular although they are masterpieces; this greatly adds to the interest of the book.
