"Philologists have eliminated and established the truth" (p. 154 Dr. M'Causland is a long-estab- lished practitioner in the art of reconciling Soripturo with Science by perverting both, and these specimens may give an idea of his qualifica- tions as a teacher. The public among whom his books find their sale must be the half-educated classes of the "religious world." Unquestion- ably, middle-class education is just now one of the weakest points in our social system, and its improvement should be declared urgent.
