This is an indication of domestic economy during war which

It would also justify the rumour that there is to be a servants tax in the new Budget. This tax, it is alleged, will be levied in respect of all servants employed beyond the standaed principle of one master one servant. Monsieur, Madame, et licbi will be allowed cook, house-parlourmaid, and nurse, but for servants beyond this minimum there will be a tax.
