Waugh on Navratilova
Sir: The sad and beastly truth, for all to see, is that Mr Auberon Waugh, through no fault of his own (?), is an extremely obnoxious, narrow-minded, chauvinistic little twerp (Another voice, 12 July). Mar- tina Navratilova is the greatest female tennis player the world is ever likely to see.
If the 'crowds' don't love her, it's be- cause they are as blindly prejudiced and narrow-minded as the obnoxious Mr Waugh and can't appreciate the sheer strength, grace, agility and skill of an athlete in her prime; which is nothing less than extremely beautiful.
