Dangerous corner

Sir: Crabro (12 September), like other public commentators, seems to have drawn a ques- tionable conclusion from reports concerning the recent escape of the El Al aeroplane. Was the safety of its passengers in fact assured by the presence of security men or by a grenade failing?

What, on reflection, would he his advice to a planeload of people faced by a man who, with the pins of a couple of grenades pulled, made it clear that any relaxation of his grip on them occasioned by disablement would give everybody there just five more seconds of life? What, indeed, would be his advice to the security men?
