The Architectural Annual, published under the auspices of the Architectural

League of America (12s. 7d.), reaches us from Philadelphia. In a country where so much building is going on as in the United States, it is to be hoped that something great and original may be evolved. According to the criticisms in the work before us, American architects at present cling too much to a meretricious French style. Considerable space is devoted to the work of a young man, Wilson Eyre, whose originality is great and variety quite remarkable. As far as it is possible to judge from these small architectural drawings, their author should do great things.
