SIR,—As a simple-minded and Obviously non- theological seeker after truth,

I would be glad to know where in the account of the Last Supper, or elsewhere in the New Testament, there is authority for the idea that Holy Communion may be administered only by a priesthood?

One guidance we would appear to receive from the recorded words of Our Lord is his desire that all Christians should be one. The 'lamentable divisions' (that tbo-glib phrase) which keep Christians from .sharing a common table or a common chalice look very much like man-made misconceptions of the will of God. Certainly they are not the least of many reasons why the churches today repel rather than attract so many lay people who are not always irreligious.
