24th, the India Office published the names • of those who are -to- accompany the ex-Speaker, Mr. J. H. Whitley, in the Royal Commission appointed to study labour conditions in -rnditi.- The net hasbeen .east wide, and besides several Indians who have already a dis- tinguished record of. Empire. service, like _Mr. Srinivasa Sastri, the Commission includes Diwan Chaman Lal, who has for long been associated with advanced Swarajism. He was a workers' delegate at the Inter- national Labour Conference last year, and also n member of the Empire Parliamentary delegation to Canada. The inclusion of a woman official of our Ministry of Labour is significant—and welcome.
