The Daily Chronicle on Thursday drew attention to the success

of the Territorial Artillery during the recent training, and quoted Colonel Gaedke's observation that "of the three chief arms the artillery came out best." He goes on:—" This is all the more surprising because last year it (the Artillery) did so little that some doubted whether it would ever be usable. The officers and men have made great progress. The positions as a rule were well chosen ; and the fire control left nothing to be desired." The Chronicle remarks also that in this year's competition by the Territorial Field Artillery at Okehampton, where the tests were the same as those applied to Regulars, the winning battery scored over eighty per cent. of the maximum points.
