Sin,—In the Life and Epistles of St. Paul, by Conybeare and Howson, there arc some interesting observations on the ships and navigation of the ancients, which answer the question of your correspondent "Nautilus." Dr. Howson writes : "That ancient vessels could not work to windward is one of the popular mistakes which need not be refuted."
