Sir: When are hostilities with Iraq likely to begin? The astrological chartS relating to Iraq and the super-powers indicate active hostilities during the first three weeks of September. Aggressive and volatile ener- gies predominate in the relevant charts during the first week, particularly around 6-7 September, with the first offensive probably coming from the West. President Saddam Hussein may be in nervous and quarrelsome mood this weekend, and esp- ecially vulnerable around 18 September.

The Russian charts, although suppor- tive, indicate a level of physical paralysis and a lacking of outward energy until later.

It is not surprising that Saddam Hussein shows similar traits to Hitler. Both have birth charts with an emphasis on the signs of Taurus and Aries; but Hussein is more intransigent and so far more dangerous. This is a man who needs space, who cannot be told and cannot co-operate for fear of losing his power. His Sun in Taurus is closely linked to Uranus which gives him a stubbornness which is as rigid as rock. Uncontrolled, this is a chart of a rebel and an autocratic reformer. Saturn at 0 degrees of Aries gives him a sense of self- righteousness and shows an individual who must enforce his own personal sense of law and order.

His Moon conjunct Mars denotes a fiercely protective family man, and there is a deep-seated rage surrounding the `mother' figure. Since Venus, Jupiter, and Pluto show a compulsion to dominate women, in any negotiations Mrs Thatcher would be well advised to bear this in mind.

Saddam Hussein is not only a disciplined fighter with endurance, he is driven by a compulsion of having to win, whatever the costs. A Mars Pluto contact endorses this ruthless determination, and the way that Neptune is configured with Mars Saturn indicates torment and the undermining of vitality. The aspects between the major and personal planets denote a fanatic desire to exploit and control the masses, also a courageous man with an ability to lead men who need firm control.

Saddam Hussein should not be under- estimated. People with Sun Uranus have flashes of inspiration, are full of surprises and often brilliant. It is their individualism, eccentric and unpredictable behaviour that makes others consider them odd, or poss- ibly mad. His tremendous inner tension, coupled with instability and will-power, is perhaps the most dangerous part of Hus- sein's character.
