Holmes. With Illustrations by Howard Pyle. (Gay and Bird. 6s.)—The illustrations are quite in character with the text, and reflect the quaint humour and the atmosphere of Holmes's work. Mr. Pyle's drawings are good, and are not merely dependent on the poems for their humorous qualities. They would be still better if the different colour-blocks had more often registered correctly.
