(John Lane. 5s. net.)— This book—the title is an allusion to a famous quatrain of Omar Khayyam—contains a number of well-chosen apophthegms, sentiments, &c., from authors of repute, some of them not often seen in selections of this kind, but well deserving the honour. Miss Thompson's reading has, it is clear, been wide.
