An Anthology of Modern Bohemian Poetry. By P. Solver. (Henry

J. Drane. 3s. 6d.)—It is to be feared that no valuable estimate of Bohemian verse could be formed from this collection, for the translations are entirely without inspiration. Here, for instance, is a stanza from a "Fragment" by Jan z Wojkowicz :— "Dreams of princesses in satin array,

In a bower where scents of roses flow, And they crave to wander away, ah, away, Golden-clad on a horse to go."

The writer of what is probably in the original a carefully and even preciously written poem would scarcely feel gratified if he could see this rendering of it.
