The dispute between Turkey and Great Britain as to the

Hinterland of Aden has, it is said, been settled. The Governor- General of Yemen wanted to annex some tracts Occupied by tribes whom we protect, and though the Sultan consented to delimitation, the delays were so grievous and deliberate that no settlement could be arrived at. The Indian Government, alarmed for the safety of Aden, at last intervened, and Sir N. O'Conor, pressed by representations from Simla, informed the Sultan that if further delays were permitted the British would settle boundaries for themselves, and then defend them by force. The Sultan thereupon yielded, and the delimitation is to be completed at once.
