Catalogue of the Gladstone Library of the National Liberal Club.

(Alexander and Shepheard.)—The Gladstone Library was opened by Mr. Gladstone not quite twenty years ago. Among the chief promoters of the scheme were Mr. John Noble and Professor J. E. Thorold Rogers. The Library consisted in 1888 of 3,500 bound volumes and as many pamphlets. It now numbers 24,480 and 20,152 respectively. The work of the cata- logue has been performed by Mr. A. W. Hutton, librarian from the foundation to 1899, and his successor, Mr. F. G. Haley.
