Sra,—Is not this so-called " colour bar " after all simply the fear of cheap labour, of which colour is the indication ? I am quite sure that my children, who stayed in India much longer than is usual, never felt any dislike of their coloured attendants. Quite the contrary : they preferred them generally to any English nurse we had.—I am, Sir, &c., I.C.S. (Retired).
