Gothic Architecture. By Edward Corroyer. Edited by W. Armstrong. (Seeley

and Co.)—This is an excellent sketch of the rise and progress of "Gothic" architecture—an arbitrary misnomer, as the writer points out—in all its manifestations, from the church to the barn. Mr. Corroyer claims every fresh development, including the Angel Chair at Lincoln, as a product of French genius. He might as well claim the invention of gun- powder or the electric telegraph. But it is a valuable sketch, well illustrated.
