THIS WEEK'S ROOKS.

THERE are a few attractive books this week. The Letters of Charles Greville and Henry Reeve are edited byMr.A.H.Johnson and published by Fisher Unwin. The Last Essays of Maurice Hewlett are published by Heinemann. Mr. Charles Marriott's book on Modern English Architecture has appeared (Chapman and Hall). Major Douglas again questions our conception of the modern state and its foundations of credit in a new book which he calls Social Credit (Palmer). Fifteen Tales, by Ivan Bunin, the well-known Russian author,is published by Martin Seeker. Lastly Miss Edith Sitwell publishes with Messrs. Duckworth a book of poetry called The Sleeping Beauty.
