A striking commentary on these articles is furnished by the Pretoria correspondent of the Morning Post —a newspaper which has all along supported the introduction of Asiatic labour—who, telegraphing on the 18th inst., reports the outbreak of serious riots amongst the Chinese coolies engaged on the Aurora West, Geduld, and Glen Deep Mines, owing to dissatisfaction with their wages and clothes. The disturbances were only quelled by the intervention of armed police, who at the Geduld Mine were compelled to fire in self- defence, wounding five coolies.
