Berlin has opened a " %Veek-end Exhibition." This is a

symptom of the general adoption in Germany of the British habit of the week-end, but Germany cultivates the movement with characteristic thoroughness and solemnity. Inquiries were made, as the Berlin corres- pondent of the Times tells us, for all the literature of the " British week-end movement." Astonishment was caused by the discovery that there was none. The British week-end has simply grown ; in Germany it will be controlled. But for all that, we dare say that in a few years we shall have something to learn from German particularism about the proper equipment for the week-end. * * * *
