SIR,—Thank you for printing Leavis's lecture, but hardly for the

fatuous correspondence of the follow- ng week. When there is such an outpouring of niminy- Piminy mealy-mouthed stuff and nonsense from the literary establishment (which is neither literary nor established), where is one to 'go for honest, blunt And outspoken criticism except to the great critics 3f the past and, in our own day, to Dr. Leavis? I am• not a former student of Dr. Leavis.
