J SIR,—With reference to the artiole appearing in your issue of November 9th, we shall be obliged if you will allow us to point out that the employment- of the twig is not the only method by which water-finders work, and that in our own case, at least, we guarantee the quantity and the depth predicted at the time of our visit. Should this depth be exceeded, our clients only pay for the agreed cost of the work up to the depth predicted; and on the other hand, should it be found at a less depth, then our clients only pay for the work actually done. Thus a client is assured of a specified quantity of water per day within a specified depth, or he pays nothing for the work.
