Nothing to declare

Sir: With reference to Mr Auberon Waugh's article in your issue of 3 January, I must point out that on no occasion has Mr John Cordle ever issued a letter to the press from this address.

I do feel that a journalist of Mr Waugh's standing should get his facts right before publishing an article.

David Russell Galitzine and Partners Ltd, 57 Duke Street, Grosvenor Square, London WI

Auberon Waugh writes: On 27 April 1969 Mr John Cordle, in company with Mr James Johnson, Mr Nigel Fisher and others, pub- lished a letter in the 'Observer' announcing the formation of the United Nigeria Group. This letter was sent from 57 Duke Street— the address of Mr Russell's firm. By a mis- print, the letter appeared from 37 Duke Street. The 'Observer' confirm that the address on the original letter was 57 Duke Street. Still, it is always nice to hear from Mr Russell.
