We regret to have to record more successes by the

'Emden.' Lloyd's agent at Colombo telegraphed on Wednesday that the Admiralty reported that four British steamers and a dredger bound for Tasmania had been sunk and another British steamer captured. A later message states that the 'Emden' also captured the St. Egbert,' which arrived at Cochin with the passengers and crews. The locality of the sinking of the ships is said to have been the Laccadive Islands. The crews appear to have been all saved. The incident is very annoying, but it would be absurd to attach too much importance to it. The captures of the 'Emden ' will have no more effect on the- final outcome of the war than did the similar successes of the 'Alabama.'
