The best practical use to make of the Veteran Reserves

when they are formed throughout England, Scotland, and Ireland still remains over for decision. We have our own opinion, but we will only say here that what impressed the present writer most about the parade was that the men seemed like hounds straining on the leash, ready and eager to do any work to which they might be put. To change the metaphor to one from the sea, they seemed like men who had received the order, " Stand by to serve the country !" and realised fully what that order meant.
