Saved by a Looking - Glass. By E. H. Wells. (Digby and

Long.) —There is a terrible murder in this short tale, and that no doubt will be a sufficient recommendation of it. But, indeed, it is fairly well told, without attempting to produce any sensational effect, and the discovery of the real murderer comes as a surprise. As a specimen of the better class of " shocker," it is worth reading, for it is a short story, and with the exception of a moralising digression, will not waste much time.
