SCOTLAND.

Mr. J. A. Murray has been appointed a Judge of the Court of Ses- sion, Mr. Andrew Rutherford Lord Advocate, and Mr. James Ivory Solicitor-General for Scotland.

An address to the electors of Leith, from Mr. Rutherfmel, appeared in the Edinburgh papers of Tuesday. The legal appointments are unimpeachable—the two best lawyers at the Scottish bar have been se- lected. But the representation of Leith is another story. Mr. Rutherfbrd stood superciliously aloof while the Reform Bill was carrying. Mr. Rutherford is a Finality man. Mr. Rutherford knows no more of the principles of commerce than he does of the language spoken in the moon: and yet the only lively thing in his -feeble address is a taunt at the ignorant impatience of those who would abolish the Corn-laws im- mediately. But Mr. Rutherfard will be returned for Leith : the Leith bodies must do the bidding of the Whig lawyers of Edinburgh.—Glets- yew Argus..
