A VILLAGE H. Q.

One of the villages that most fruitfully co-operated was the tiny hamlet of Idbury, which is on the way to become a sort of headquarters of what is called " rural bias." In its old Manor House Mr. Robertson-Scott edits his little half-crown quarterly, The Countryman, which becomes an almost neces- sary luxury of life to the Happy Countryman wherever he lives. Among other and perhaps livelier, if not more useful features it contains a condensed review of all country books. In it I rejoice that the reviewer emphasises the fact that one county, Cornwall, has made a census of its species of tree and shrub. Other counties, please copy.
