THE "LIBERTIES " OF' THE AIR

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sin,—Mr. John Buchan in his third article on " The Liberties of the Air " (Spectator, March 20 last) says, respecting short service commissions in the Air Force, that the five years' course of training fits a man " for any one of a choice of professions." Would Mr. Buchan oblige by naming the professions really open to one who has gone through such a course ? My query is made not out of idle curiosity, but for a 'practical purpose. One has fears that this short service commission may, in fact if not in theory, prove but a blind

alley occupation.—I am, Sir, &c. • PATER.
