Theological Literature in the Church of England. By John Dowden,

D.D., Bishop of Edinburgh. (S.P.C.K.) — Bishop Dowden reviews and summarises the chief contributions made by Anglican divines to theology during the two centuries and a half between 1550 and 1800. He shows himself to have a sound judgment, and to be well acquainted with the very large subject which he handles. The substance of the book was first given to the world in the Paddock Lectures, one of several recent foundations with which the liberality of citizens of the United States have assisted the cause of theological learning.
