few points which heated controversialists carelessly or carefully obscure. Here is an extract from the " Homily of Repentance,"

often quoted in support of auricular confession It is most evident and plain that this auricular confession bath not his rite] warrant of God's Word." The well-known passage in the notice is thus commented on :—"It is against the true Christian liberty that any man should be bound to the numbering of his sins."
