T111: NEW ORCHESTRA.

So far three summer concerts have been given by the newly-formed Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra in Scottish Broadcasting House. Apart from the first concert, which struck me as dull, the programmes have been enterprising, while the orchestra has been ably led and has so far been conducted with refreshing vigour by young Scottish con- ductors w1M would normally have very little opportunity of working in their native country. Co-operation with the B.B.C. will, I understand, enable the Scottish Philharmonic to tour Ayr, Inverness, Perth, and Galashiels, during the au Winn.
